John P. Scordo, Esq.

Professional Experience:

Mr. Scordo is a Partner at the law firm of Day Pitney LLP and is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey.  Day Pitney  is a 100 year-old law firm with approximately 400 attorneys and has offices in New York, New Jersey, Hartford, Boston and Washington D.C.

His practice focuses on commercial litigation in the state and federal courts, primarily involving insurance, contract disputes, securities and real estate-related matters.  Mr. Scordo represents clients in securities litigation in both the state and federal courts. He is an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers, which includes ruling on allegations of unsuitability, churning and misrepresentation, and has represented both claimants and respondents in arbitrations.

His experience also includes the handling of complex litigation and the negotiation of claims/coverages under various types of insurance, including liability, directors' and officers', property, fidelity, title, cargo, environmental impairment, employment practices, media/publishing and employers' liability insurance. 

Mr. Scordo regularly represents landlords and tenants in disputes involving commercial real estate, and lenders in litigation involving the foreclosure and collection of large commercial loans.  He also represents defendants in personal injury, product and premises liability/security cases, handles litigation of air and ground cargo claims on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, and has represented both purchasers and suppliers in disputes involving the Uniform Commercial Code.

He started with the firm in 1989 following a clerkship in the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division.
